The following screensaver consists of 18 images taken in the Coyote Buttes North permit area. The images can be used as a desktop background or screensaver on Windows based PCs. Unlike most screen savers the images below have been customized to exactly fit over ninety percent of the PC monitors in use today. On these monitors the image will fill the screen, and no black borders or cropping will occur. The following images are included in the screen saver:
Start by downloading the zip file below corresponding to your monitor's resolution. If you do not know your display's resolution click on calculate below and it will be displayed.
Next - find your resolution in the first column of the following table. I have provided image files for the most common monitor sizes only. If your monitor is not one of the sizes in the table you should download a file with a similar aspect ratio but more pixels.

To download the zip-file click on it. You will be asked to "open the file with the associated viewer". Click on the zip-file again and choose a destination on your hard drive. After downloading unzip the file to any location on your hard drive. The procedure for installing a desktop background in Windows 7 is as follows: Click the Start button in the lower left of the screen. Then choose Control Panel. Under Appearance and Personalization click on Change Desktop Background. Browse to where you have unzipped the images. After the images have appeared uncheck any you don;t want to include in the background. Choose a picture position, I recommend Fill. In Windows 7 and 8 you can choose to have the background image change at set intervals, choose an interval. Choose whether to display the images in random order (Shuffle check box). Finally Click Save. Instructions to install a set of images as a background for other versions of Windows and for iOS can be found on the web.
The table above includes two ways to build your screensaver. If you wish to add your own images to the images above, or want to exclude any of the images above, you need to download the individual image files. After downloading unzip the images as described above. To install the images as as screensaver proceed as follows: Click the Windows Start button in the lower left of your monitor. Choose Control Panel. Click on Appearance and Personalization. Under Personalization click on Change Screen Saver. From the dropdown select Photos and browse to where you have unzipped the images. Select a slideshow speed and whether you want the images to be shuffled.
You can easily add your own images to the ones I've provided. Start by resizing the images to fit your screen exactly. Then copy them to the same directory you unzipped my images to. Finally open the control panel and proceed as above.
If you wish to use the screensaver as is download the .scr file in the last column of the above table. After downloading right click on the downloaded file and choose install. On the next screen choose a wait time and your done.
A note on Color Management for advanced users. The windows desktop and screen savers are not color managed. The images I have created are in the sRGB color space. For most monitors this is a very good choice and the downloaded images will appear natural in color. For the small number of users with wide gamut monitors the images in my slideshow/screen saver may appear over-saturated or unnatural. If this occurs you need to convert the images to the monitors color space. This can be done in Photoshop provided you have a profile for your display. Email me if you need assistance in doing this.
